The visit of Prof. Joachim Malecki, First Construction Director of the Ministry of Construction and Environment in Hamburg and Peter Friemert, General Manager of the ZEBAU Shanghai Bauausstellungsgesellschaft mbH in September included a coordination meeting with Mrs. Zhong Yanqun, Secretary General of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo Committee.

ecobuild shanghai 2006 is meant to act as a reference project to the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. End of 2006, the ecobuild model buildings, incorporating energy efficiency concepts, shall serve as examples for the planning of the World Expo 2010. Furthermore, an infrastructure system based on circular economy concepts from the Hamburg Public Sewage Company (HSE) is in discussion for the ecobuild Chonming Dongtan project: this innovative solution will later on be suggested to the World Expo 2010.

Mr. Ulf Rakelmann from the HSE furthermore participated to a conference organized by the Asian Development Bank in Shanghai on September 9th on Water Issues in the PRC, with the lecture: "Development of Innovative Water Infrastructure for Conurbations".
