Hamburg ecobuild-Team visited Shanghai
for further preparation |

Meetings with relevant partners
as Shanghai Construction Commission
and Expo Committee were on the agenda |

Joachim Malecki, First Construction
Director of the City of Hamburg, and
Peter Friemert, General Manager of ZEBAU
Hamburg, visited Shanghai from July
18th to July 24th. In meetings with
the ecobuild project partner, the Shanghai
Construction Commission, the status
of the participating projects was reviewed.
Mr. Sun Jianping, Vice Chairman of the
Construction Commission, welcomed the
developments in the frame of the ecobuild
shanghai 2006. “With the World
Expo Shanghai 2010 in sight, ecobuild
presents concrete visions for a better
city”, he stated, mentioning the
nine participating projects that will
present their energy efficiency during
the exhibition in November. |

That ecobuild and the participating
projects will be acting as reference
for the World Expo Shanghai 2010 was
again confirmed during several meetings
with Expo officials, including meeting
with Mr. Huang Jiangzhi, Vice Director
for Development and Construction. It
was pointed out by the Shanghai side
that ecobuild and its projects acts
in line with the preparation of the
Expo and that the network of ecobuild
will be valuable with its expertise
and experience. |

On invitation of the Suzhou Government,
Prof. Malecki and the ecobuild-team
visited Suzhou to get informed about
actual ecological building projects.
The Mayor of Suzhou, Ms. Tan Ying, welcomed
the delegation and discussed the idea
of involving some Suzhou-projects in
ecobuild. |

The day after the delegation attended
the opening of an energy saving exhibition
at the Shanghai Energy Conservation
Supervision Center, meeting with the
Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Hu Yanzhao.

On the last evening, Sun Weimin, Director
of the Department Europe/Africa of the
Foreign Affairs Office of the City of
Shanghai, invited the delegation for
dinner and was happy to receive an update
on the progress of ecobuild. Being held
in the year of the 20st anniversary
of the sister city partnership of Hamburg
and Shanghai, ecobuild is a great contribution
to the exchange program of the two cities.
Director Sun therefore thanked the ecobuild-team
for their great efforts. |

The next official visit of Prof. Malecki
is to be expected from September 18
to September 24. |
