Successful
dialogue launched with CPPCC on energy
saving |

The CPPCC Shanghai (Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference),
the AHK Shanghai, and ecobuild, organized
the first Energy-Efficiency Conference
on July 13th, 2006. |

| |
About 160 participants attended the
conference, from the Chinese and German
industry as well as from the Shanghai
government. The dialogue was opened
by Mr. Chen Xianglin, Shanghai CPPCC
Economic Committee and Chairman of the
Board of the SAIC-Group, who stressed
the benefits of international cooperation
and dialogue. |

Mr. Jiang Yiren, Chairman of CPPCC
Shanghai, underlined the concern of
the government over energy issues. “Guidelines
have been set in the recent eleventh
five-year program and related measures
are to be expected to be implemented
shortly.” The CPPCC, in its advisory
function, has committed itself to contribute
and support the efforts towards the
set energy efficiency goals. |

The conference presented overall examples,
successful case studies for energy efficiency
and also enable interesting discussions
to take place. As a first step to create
a dialogue, the event paved the way
to further activities: workshops focusing
on the various sectors of activities
will take place in the following months.
