ecobuild exhibition - showcasing visions for a better city

From November 8th to November 10th, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum hosted the ecobuild shanghai 2006.

Vice Mayor Yang Xiong as well as Senator Freytag opened the exhibition on November 8th.

The 9 ecobuild projects were presented, as pioneer building projects for energy efficiency and ecology. All the buildings, developed by local investors, provide innovative ideas in terms of design concepts and showcase available products and technologies to improve efficiency.

Accompanied by the various project developers, Hamburg and Shanghai city representatives toured the exhibition to review the achievement of the 2 year long sister–city cooperation.

Further exhibition areas featured products and technologies from European companies as well as Chinese companies: one could visit the booths of Bayer and BASF, ecobuild sustainability partners; Hamburg Water, ecobuild supporting partner; MUDI, REHAU, STO, IVT, CPB and BAUMIT, ecobuild industry partners; and also booth from Sarnafil, Jansen, Ytong, Uponor, RESS, Werkhart International and many more.

As an ecological building is designed to lower its impact on the environment and provide higher comfort to its users, it needs a thorough, integrated planning, considering the whole energy system. The exhibition aimed at presenting, under one umbrella, the various components of ecological building, from the design and planning, to renewable energy sources and water management, through building materials and building technologies.

During ecobuild shanghai 2006 developers, architects, designers could therefore get an overview of the various aspects to be considered in order plan an ecological building.

The location of the exhibition was chosen to provide not only professionals with technical information, but also to enable children and the general public to understand what stands behind the concept of ecological building.

Mission accomplished with some schools visiting the models!
